Arachnid Archery Buying Experience

I chose to purchase some arrows from a relatively new local arrow company called Arachnid Archery. I just wanted to share my experience so far. The arrows themselves haven’t arrived yet and I feel there is too much to already talk about.

In this post I’m going to stick to my purchasing experience and I will do a follow up later this year on the actual products.

If you remember back a few years I tried the Killin’ Stix arrows. They are a local Alberta company and I liked the idea of supporting local. In the blog linked HERE I shared my thoughts and experience with them.

After the issues with the components, I moved to the opposite end of the spectrum and went to Gold Tip Platinum Pierce Arrows. These are about as expensive as I could go.

After two seasons I noticed a new local arrow company had come onto the market and I figured I would give them a shot.

The Buying Experience

I scrolled their website and had some questions, firstly I was looking to be back in the .204” ID arrow as lighted nocks were something I missed after shooting micro .165” ‘shafts the last two seasons. So I reached out to their Instagram page for some clarity.

Above is the website showing that the outserts for the .204” shafts were listed as 7075 Aluminum and next to it the IG convo where it is stated that the .204” shafts are sold with Stainless Steel outserts. There is also no mention of weight of any of their inserts on the website. This makes it quite tough when trying to build out an arrow setup.

I will clear this up once my arrows come in. As I plan on running the Easton HITT style inserts this was not a huge concern for me. I will build out a couple with the Arachnid inserts to see if they hold up to a summer of shooting unlike the Killin’ Stix.

My next concern is the listing of the Widowmaker arrow, the ones I ordered, in the signature collection. The signature collection states that it is their premium line of non-woven arrows, yet the information blurb states that the arrow is 3K weave.

My final concern as a consumer/purchaser is that I was under the impression that the company is based out of Grande Prairie, AB. In fact my credit card statement shows the purchase as being processed in Grande Prairie, but I was charged in USD. This was not listed or stated on the website, and only showed up on the final receipt from the Shopify platform which they use to run their online sales.

After reaching out to clarify whether this was correct or not, this was the response I received.

Arachnid Archery IG Response #2

I included my inquiry to show that I did not make any comment on my opinion of the charge being in USD over CDN just that I noticed it. If I were to give my opinion, I do not feel it is okay for a company to be based in Canada, and because they were unable to get their shipping in order charge customers based on their warehouse location. While I am sure there is nothing illegal about it, just seems unfair to the unsuspecting customer. To each their own.

Summary

My experience with Arachnid Archery was quite poor. There is a lot of missing or incorrect information on their website and any questions are met with a slight curt response.

Hopefully the arrows themselves are decent as I ordered two dozen to ease the shipping cost.

I hope this helps you make an informed decision and if you have any questions feel free to reach out!

As an Update:

My original order date was June 19th, I received the shipment on July 13th. Unfortunately only 1 dozen of the arrows out of 2 were in the original shipment. I have emailed Arachnid and it is being corrected.

As I mentioned earlier in the post, I was told that pricing was in USD due to the items shipping from the US location. However my arrows were shipped with the companies stock, and then shipped to me from Grande Prairie, AB. So yes, I paid USD for the shipping to ship an item from Alberta to Alberta.
